2018 Google & Howard University SCM Summit

Updated: May 5, 2020

(Fall 2018) Howard University Supply Chain visits Google in California.

Several fortunate Howard University students and two faculty and staff members recently became honorary “Googlers” for two days.

19 Supply Chain Management, 1st and 2nd year HU MBA students were invited to participate in the first “Google/Howard University SCM Summit” in Northern California.

On Thursday, November 9th students spent the day visiting the Sunnyvale Campus where they attended a Google Supply Chain workshop and heard firsthand from Google’s leadership. Friday, November 10th was spent at the Mountainview Campus. Students participated in an array of workshops learning about Google’s hiring process, commitment to diversity, the environment and entrepreneurship.

It was an enlightening trip and two former SCM MBA students chaperoned current Howard affiliates and the tour of Google’s campus was given by two current HU Information Systems students who are spending the semester in a Google sponsored technology exchange program.

The days were filled with information, insights, and our students impressed Google’s leadership with their astute questions, wealth of knowledge and display of soft skills. The time spent there was undoubtedly mutually worthwhile for both Google and Howard University and further enhanced the ongoing partnership. It is hoped that the summit will continue every few years to expose a new group of students to the infrastructure and opportunities at Google.
