(Spring 2019) The 6th Annual HU Supply Chain Management Summit was a huge success!

The Supply Chain Management Student Association in collaboration with the Center for Excellence in Supply Chain Management recently held its Annual Supply Summit (January 29th - February 7th).
The Summit kicked off on Tuesday, January 29th with two keynote presentations on the topic of Supply Chain Management. Cory Settles, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain for Bank of America(an HUSCM Advisory Board member) and Al Hankins, Chief Procurement Officer of the Bechtel Corporation each spoke on the subject. Several additional events were held including an SCM Student Association fundraiser and a technical and functional workshop conducted by a team of executives from Cummins (also an CESCM Advisory Board member). The impetus for the workshop was to educate SCM students on the “Six Sigma” system, a process improvement system which is utilized by many corporations. On Friday, February 1st, another workshop was held in conjunction with the MBA program as part of their Leadership Development Series. The workshop focused on soft skill development, specifically on “presentation skills” and was conducted Communications Consultant, Poppy Gaskin.
The final event of the Summit was a special Chief Procurement Officer and Global Vice President Panel Session held on February 7th. We were very fortunate to host a combination of seven CPOs/VPs representing seven varying industries including: Nationwide Insurance, Charter Communications, Ingersoll Rand, Boeing (HUSCM Advisory Board member), Caesars Entertainment, TIAA and AARP. The array of executives conducted a panel discussion on the topic “Global Business and Supply Chain Disruptors – What Are They and How Students can Prepare to Help Address these Disruptors?”
This year’s Summit was once again a huge success!
